小編最近無意間看到伊索寓言英文版的書籍,
想當初是英文初學者時,
伊索寓言是一本讓初學者好懂的文章
所以想說可以介紹給英文初學者來閱讀~
之後可能會不定時提供伊索寓言小故事讓大家來學習喔~
The Ant and the Grasshopper 螞蟻與蚱蜢
In a field one summer's day a Grasshopper was hopping about,
chirping and singing to its heart's content.
An Ant passed by,
bearing along with great toil an ear of corn he was taking to the nest
"Why not come and chat with me," said the Grasshopper,
"instead of toiling and moiling in that way?"
"I am helping to lay up food for the winter," said the Ant,
"and recommend you to do the same."
"Why bother about winter?" said the Grasshopper;
we have got plenty of food at present."
But the Ant went on its way and continued its toil.
When the winter came the Grasshopper found itself dying of hunger,
while it saw the ants distributing, every day,
corn and grain from the stores they had collected in the summer.
冬天到了，螞蟻把平常儲存的穀物拿出來風乾，
因為經過了多雨的夏、秋，變得有點潮溼。
這時候，
有一隻餓得兩眼昏花、飢腸轆轆的蚱蜢看見螞蟻的存糧
便要求螞蟻分給牠一點，
螞蟻問：「你在夏天的時候怎麼不跟我們一樣準備過冬的糧食呢？」
蚱蜢回答：「夏天我忙著唱歌呀！」
螞蟻笑笑地回告蟬：
「喔，那很好，既然夏天你在唱歌，就繼續在冬天跳舞吧！」
寓意: 要不失時機地工作、勞動，才能豐衣足食；
如果一味玩樂，只能挨餓。
