Graph Social Bakers Facebook Taiwan
According to one report, 67% of the Taiwanese population has access to Internet, which is approximately 15.4 million. If more than 9 million of users are on Facebook, that would mean that 59% of Internet users are on Facebook!
Taiwan has become a sort of Facebook country. The rapid growth is mainly due tothe popularity of social gaming. Happy Harvest, the Chinese version of Farmville is bringing more and more Taiwanese users to Facebook. Another reason for this growth is the lack of competitors. Wretch.cc, acquired by Yahoo!, does not offer games as part of the platform, which made the gaming segment sign up to Facebook.
Regarding brands and personalities, the shift to Facebook is also visible. For example, the President of Taiwan, Ma Ying-jeou, opened his Facebook page to post his speeches, updates and respond to criticism.
I believe there is an opportunity for marketers who want to tap into the Taiwanese market. Although the written language used in Taiwan is Traditional Chinese, it will not impede communication if you use Simplified Chinese (the language used in Chinese for example) as the differences between both languages are not major.
Brands such as Sony Ericsson, Acer, Samsung and HP have already created specific pages for the Taiwanese market and their growth seems to suggest brands are doing well in Taiwan.
台灣人瘋臉書程度全球之冠。據臉書（facebook）官方昨首度公布的台灣用戶數據，每天至少1千萬人上臉書，以台灣2335萬人口估算，等同每10人中有逾4人每天用臉書，比任何國家的民眾對臉書還「黏踢踢」。學者認為，台灣人黏臉書的程度高於以往任何網路平台，但能不能將「按讚」化成實際行動，有待觀察。
據臉書官方數據，台灣每月平均1400萬人用臉書，每天約1千萬人上臉書，其中710萬人透過智慧型手機或平板電腦登入，每天至少用一次的活躍用戶佔每月活躍用戶比率達71%，較香港67%及全球61%要高。
據臉書數據，香港有430萬人每月至少使用臉書一次，290萬人每天使用。臉書雖未公布全球數據，但據香港《蘋果》昨報導，香港臉書用戶佔人口比率居全球之冠，是以去年715萬總人口計算，若以今年中人口統計718.4萬估算，每天用臉書人口約40.37％，較台灣42.83％低，台灣人比港人更瘋臉書，是真正全球之冠。
